Angelita Pires, recently acquitted of a plot to kill East Timorese President Jose Ramos Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão, has signed with Lauren Miller Cilento (HMMG) to pursue international book and film opportunities.
Angelita is a sternly proud East Timorese woman whose family was forced to flee to Australia upon the Indonesian invasion in 1975. When her country secured its independence in 1999, like many exiled East Timorese scattered throughout the world, she immediately returned to be a part of the rebuilding of her war torn nation.
Angelita, a Timorese/Australian citizen, had been under house arrest in East Timor for two years after being accused of backing the alleged assassination plot by financing the rebels movement in the country. Her lover, famed rebel leader Alfredo Reinado was killed during the gunfight. She has vowed to continue to fight for the release of 23 of Reinado's men who have been found guilty of crimes relating to the attack on President Horta on 11 February 2008.
She was found not guilty on 3 March 2010 and said outside the court, "I am extremely relieved to be exonerated by the court of any involvement in the events of February 11, 2008. My life has been on hold for over two years and it's been an enormously stressful and emotional time for me. Today is the most important day of my life. I have rightfully regained my freedom. I’d like to say that I have learned that liberty is one of the most important things an individual can possess."
Lauren Miller Cilento says "Angelita's story is ongoing and one that I want to help her share with the world. She is beyond an inspiration; a fiercely passionate and intelligent woman who is not afraid to fight for her beliefs and the rights of those without a voice. In many ways, her story has only just begun in terms of the political future of East Timor."
For enquiries regarding Angelita Pires please contact Lauren Miller Cilento at HMMG.

The upcoming exhibition, 'Heart of the Waratah' by famous Australian designer, Jenny Kee, is an exploration of the form and personal spiritual meaning of the waratah.
"I want to share my passion for the waratah: the flower that has become my totem, the symbol of my fiery emotions. I live surrounded by native bushland that is frequently ravaged by fires. After fire, waratahs are like flames exploding into bloom from their bed of ashes, big crimson hearts opening to the sun. I am always astonished that such beauty can spring from such devastation. I see waratahs as the essence of fire - from the destruction comes rebirth. From personal tragedy I have been reborn through creating art - transforming pain into joyous beauty - that is the waratah" - Jenny Kee.
The exhibition, consisting of a series of 24 oil stick drawings on paper, will open at Hat Hill Gallery in Blackheath, Blue Mountains, on Saturday evening, 24th October 2009 between 6pm-8pm.

Described by the media as 'straight talking', host and residential property expert for the award-winning series Selling Houses Australia, Andrew Winter, has signed with the Harry M Miller Group.
Having started his career in real estate at the age of 17, Andrew Winter has had an impressive career in the UK which has seen him selling property across England from the Cotswold's through to Central London and Canary Wharf, where he was a partner for eight years. "It is my ultimate job, travelling all over seeing new people and their homes, discovering new areas, meeting their agents, what luck!"
In 2005 Andrew moved to Australia and with his wife established a boutique Real Estate Agency in Queensland, but sold that agency in 2008 to allow for more time for the family and to allow his substantially increased media work to be given more time.
The Harry M Miller Group are excited to be working with Andrew to expand his media profile and share his real estate knowledge with a wider audience.
For further information on Andrew Winter please contact Lauren Miller Cilento or Sacha Gratton at the Harry M Miller Group.
